Shelby …..

I had 3 inseperable beautiful siamese cats, mother, father and daughter. the mother passed away a couple years ago leaving behind Daddy (Nikki), and his little girl Shelby, who are14 and 15 years old now, and have been with me since birth.

Shelby started sneezing a lot last weekend and had a real noticeable loss of appetite. when I came home from work Tuesday night, I had to rush her to the hospital because she was having trouble breathing. After a night of living on oxygen, when I picked her up in the morning to take her to my vet, I had learned she tested positive for feline lukemia [leukemia], and unfortunately because of how bad all her symptoms were, and there wasnt anything that could be done, I had no other option but to say goodby to her that morning at my vets office.

As i sit here writing this with my eyes filled I am looking at Nikki who is laying by my side very lonely wondering where his little girl is. But what breaks my heart more is to look at Nikki and notice his weight loss over the past year and now realizing the probability of him being infected as well. He will be tested as we have an appt with the vet in the upcoming days ahead, and if it comes to the point where I have to say goodby to him as well, I will always cherish the 15 years of unconditional love they gave to me, day in and day out.

I was still grieving over the death of one of my young cats who had been run over the month before. It was the 19th of June when I kept hearing what sounded like a kitten crying outside. I looked out but couldn’t see anything. A few minutes later my husband was going outside and called me to come and see something. [more..]
