Polo

My dearest Polo passed away 11/08. a day after my birthday. He was not my dearest when he 1st came to our house. Not because i dislike him, just that my sister didn’t prepare anything before bringing him home.
He was a rescue dog, taken in by my sister’s friend, who had to give up the dog because of parental objections.
1st week, he was here, i dina interact with him much as he was actually my sis’s and i dina like being licked.
2nd week, he was so adorable, running here and there, always wagging his tail and very excited whenever one of our came home.
3rd week, he had fits and we took him to the vet. At 1st the vet said might be poisoning from drinking soap water when bathing. We gave him medications and pampered him with canned food instead of dried food. He got better. Then he started having sticky eyes. We have to wash his eyes every morning as he can’t opened them.
07/08 - came home early and he had fits, gave him the medication and he got better.
10/08 - my sisters brought him to vet for his checkup & vaccination. When they brought him home, he was crying and couldn’t move around much. He had fits again. It was heartbreaking to see that, his eyes would be wide open, as if begging us to save him. My youngest sis and mum stayed up the whole night taking care of him.
11/08, morning time, he had fits again. We were planning to bring him to the vet but the appt can only be fixed at night, so we had to wait. He was still crying and my sis was carrying him the whole time. We were discussing that if we find out that he contracted an incurable disease, we would rather end his pain then had him suffer, however painful it will be for us.
In the afternoon, his panting reduces, we thought finally he was recovering albeit much slower than usual.
3pm, my other sis said he was not moving, my youngest sis went to hold him, shook him and started crying, saying: ‘ Polo! Polo! Don’t die, mummy is here!’
Our dearest Polo left us.
He was just slightly over 4 mths old.
He died of distemper.

I would have never described myself as a cat person, I’ve alway’s had Great Danes as pet’s. About 8 mths ago my son asked if he could bring home this really cute kitty that he wanted so bad. • I lost the love of my life “Chouchou” - by Helene - (Thu, Sep 20 2007)
My dog was caughing [coughing] and I was told that it was caused by her teeth infection. She was put on antibiotics for stopping the infection, soon she needed stonger doses, which affected her digestion, so she was eating less and less. I tought that if her teeth were removed, the problems would be solved, no more antibiotics and she would eat again. [more..]
