Sammy gets attacked

My mom was taking our puppy for a walk about a month ago, and an animal, an aggressive German Shepard, from the next block over got out and attacked my dog. Sammy is a Schnoodle (a mix between a Schnauzer and a Poodle) and he’s a small puppy. He had teeth marks all over him and he was crying and shaking. So was my mom, it was horrible. We rushed him to our local 24 hour vet’s office for an emergency visit. They said Sammy might have internal injuries and all sorts of horrible stuff. He’s my first puppy so I was completely heartbroken by the news that he might not make it. He had to stay the night, and it was so weird to not have him here. I also have two cats, and they hate him completely, but even they were acting all out of sorts.

The next day we got a call from the vet saying we could pick up our puppy (and pay our 2000 dollar vet bill, which we made the other dog’s owner pay) we were sooooo relieved. I’m so thankful for the vet and the staff there. They were very good to my little idiot dog. As much of a nuisance as Sammy can be (he chews EVERYTHING, I’ve had to replace 3 pairs of shoes, haha) he’s a member of the family. I’m so glad there are 24 hour emergency vets, because without them, who knows if Sammy would have been ok. He had deep puncture marks and had to be stitched up it was so bad. Sammy was a little scared and out of it when he came home, but I’m happy to say he’s back to his old spastic self now, and is rapidly approaching his first birthday.
