My Parvo Story

June 26, 2007 I lost my chihauhau [chihuahua] Cookie to parvo. With the vets guidance I was told how to treat Cookie. I gave her shots of water under the skin to hydrate, gave antibiotic and antivomiting shots to her. I was new at this so I didn’t really know what I was doing. I wasn’t successful with Cookie but my brother’s Chihauhau contracted parvo. He went to the vet also and it was suggested by her to get Karo syrup and put a dab on Maggie’s tongue. This seemed to give Maggie some strength to help fight this horrible disease. We also made sure that we absolutely kept her hydrated. We did this by pulling up on the skin. If it sprang right back she was good, if it went down slowly we gave her more water. I did not know these 2 things when treating Cookie so I don’t know if it would have turned out differently. I do know Maggie is doing great! I really do believe this helped her. I wanted to tell this because I really want to help anyone I can with this information. I miss Cookie greatly and I dedicate this to her. Good luck and I really do hope this helps.
