wheaton Terriers and GDV

My 10 year old soft coated wheaton terrier just got out of the hospital with this awful condition. Everyone told me it does not happen to smaller or medium size dogs (she is 37 lbs). It can happen to any dog! Mattie was recovering from a spleenectomy only 2 weeks ago when she got GDV. I never heard of this but when I saw her stomach I rushed her to the emergency vet (1 am). They operated immediately and she is doing as well as can be expected.
