My 15 mo old Alaskan Malamute

Kodiak went outside to go potty and came back and started screaming. I immediately got him in the car and to the emergency vet clinic where they did immediate emergency surgery. He had just had emergency endoscopic surgery 2 weeks prior for eating a pillow case (600 thread count Egyptian Cotton) while I was sleeping (I work night shift) and my husband was all involved on his computer. I’m terrified he is going to die even tho he has come out of the surgery well. He’s just a puppy and we love him so much. If he comes out of this ok what can I do so this never happens again? They did a gastroplexie on him, but I want to make sure he never has to go through this again. What can I do? Does he need a certain kind of food? He’s a big boy and I have always had their food bowls up about 12 inches so it does not hurt their necks to eat and drink water and helps in their digestion. Is this true? I’m so scared we are going to loose him. I have had 4 other large breed dogs and NEVER gone through anything like this before.
