Missing Max

by: Jennifer on Fri, May 11 2007

I had a dog named Max. He was only about 3 years old and a terrier mix. I came from school one day and found him on the floor. He was already dying and he looked at me one last time and died in my arms. If I would have known about this syndrome (GDV) then I would’ve stayed from school and gotten to a vet, so that he may get surgery. That dog was my life, he was everything to me. Now I just have the good and painful memories. Be careful with your dogs. Don’t let this happen to you guys. My brother diagnosed him because of the symptoms. He kept walking as if though he were drunk. He would bump in to things and he was drinking lots of water. Be careful. I don’t stop crying it is hard losing someone as close as a dog.

I had a 2.5 yr old german shepherd who died to today of GDV. He was fine yesterday and this morning his stomach was the size of a basketball. He was just lying on the floor with labored breathing. [more..]
