OLIVIA

by: WLH on Wed, Feb 20 2008

I rescued my neighbor’s white persian cat this past September. She had been thrown out of the house because she had “litter pan issues’. As my mom was going to adopt her and take her home to Florida with her we took her to my vet. She was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia The vet guessed her age to be about 5 years old.

Since I have no cats of my own I brought Olivia home to live out the rest of her life with me in a warm house with love and care. She is very sweet and is using her litter box well. She is so far eating and drinking and althought she seems kind of thin, she looks much better than she first did. I just don’t know what to look for as to when she might be suffering with this truely awful disease. The vet told me to watch for decreased appetite and activity, but others have told me it is a horrible disease and no one wants to see it happen. What other symptoms would be obvious? I will not let her suffer and will humanely euthanize her to keep her from suffering. She does not like her belly or hind legs touched, is that part of the disease or is she just sensitive in those areas?
