To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Just brought home a kitten w/FELV I adopted a 6 wk old kitten a week today & found out by the vet he tested positive for feline leukemia The reason I wanted to adopt a kitten was b/c I just lost my cat of 14 years to cancer. & I have a 2 year old cat who was just as sad as I. So I figured Mickey would make us both a little happier. That is until I was told this news on thursday after I brought him for a check up b/c he had been sneezing. He has an upper respitory infection that I am treating him with antibiotics for but now I am faced with this delima, do I take the chance and keep him? I have been reading about this terrible disease all day & if anyone knows how much of a risk I am taking on keeping this little kitten. I adore my cat, Minnie who is almost 2. I would be devasted if my feeling bad for this kitten put her in jepardy of catching this disease. Minnie has been updated on all her shots before I brought the kitten home & I have been trying to keep their water & liter separate. But I live in a very tiny apt so I won’t be able to do this once he gets bigger. If anyone can please give me some advise, I would be forever greatful. please help?? Comments
