The News on 9-12-07

I work at a grooming shop and we have a mobile vet that comes in and does checks on our shop cats. We’ve had a kitten for a while now and decided that he was going to be permanent so we called the vet in to neuter and front paw declaw the cat. He did everything he was there to do and then ran some blood work and said that our sweet kitten is FeLV positive. So we said test all the cats in the shop and it turns out that all of our cats are positive. I’ve heard of the virus but didn’t really know about it. I’m so sad now, knowing my cats could die any day or they may live long with or without pain along the way. I’m still not sure what my boss is going to do about our situation. It’s very heart breaking.

I have a cat named, Bella, short for Mary Shelly. or sometimes we call her Smelley Belly. In 2004, she started to act strange, she wasn’t eating and she didn’t seem to feel well. She also did something abnormal for her, she sought me out and clung to me. So when we wouldn’t eat, I took her to the Vet. [more..]

I just found out that the little stray 3 month old kitten that I have been feeding; and finally decided to give a home to; is “weakly” positive for feline leukemia. I have been lucky enough to find some very helpful ladies who are very involved in cat welfare; providing foster care and helping with adoptions, etc. [more..]
  • My vet was very wrong… - by Cheryl - (Fri, Sep 07 2007)
My vet told me 3 years ago my 5 month old “Pumkin” was positive for FeLV and that she might last two months. I was so devastated. She had swollen lymph nodes [throat] and he gave her medication which did make the swelling go down. I was scared to death for months just waiting for hell to come. [more..]
