To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download My two kittens with FIP Dakota, now 4 months, was found at Sonic with her wiskers torn off. I brought her into our home with our two dogs, Simon and Sarah both only 8 lbs. Well she, Dakota, would not leave the dogs alone. She wanted to play both day and night. So the only other thing was to get another kitten. We adopted one from a shelter after having Dakota for about 2 months. I am not sure who gave it to who, but now both kittens have FIP Caesar, also 4 months now, the shelter kitten, is still eating, playing and using the litter box, but he has a large belly and our vet has removed some fluid for comfort. Dakota has none or not much fluid. She will not eat, play nor use the litter box. She is on meds as well as Caesar. We as a family have decided that when the time comes we will have them cremated and put together as they were in life. They sleep with me and my husband as well as the two dogs in our bed. We also have decided as a family, me, my husband, our daughter 17 and son 13, that we will get another kitten when the time is right. I have read that you must wait at least 3 months and throw out all items the FIP kittens used. Maybe next spring. I just hate thinking of all those other kittens and cats that need homes. I am so glad our kids realize this and they are open to another pet. I grew up with cats and have never heard of FIP. I was blown away with the fact there is no cure. With all the kittens and cats that have FIP you would think that some drug company would love to come up with the cure and cash in. I know I would pay anything to help these little guys. To all those who have and are going through this just keep in mind that with out you they would have not known love, kindness and a true family or home. To all those that feel they could never get another kitten or cat just keep in mind that things really happen for a reason and there is another kitten or cat out there that is just waiting on you to love them no matter how long or short that time may be.
