To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Beware of Stray Cats We had one indoor cat. I regret the day we took a second cat, a stray, into our home. Apparently, the stray had FIP and passed it on to our indoor cat. Both cats died last year. We waited 4 weeks before acquiring another lovely kitten. She was an indoor only cat and her only exposure to other cats was her mother and her siblings. Our love for her knew no bounds. She was fun and affectionate. During the Christmas holidays, we noticed that our new kitten was no longer playful and was not eating. After several trips to the vet, she diagnosed with FIP She was euthanized two weeks ago. I can never forgive myself for bringing this dear kitten into our home and exposing her to this hideous virus. How long does this virus survive? I feel I can never bring another cat into our house.
