Our Little Dewey

by: Maureen on Thu, Jan 03 2008

We adopted Dewey from Pets Mart on my birthday Dec.3rd.07. After a month or so, he began to get a fever and was not himself. He had a complete CBC but we were told everything was normal and perhaps he had uti. They gave him antibiotics and sent him home. A couple of days later, his fever spiked again and we took him to the emergency vet where after 2-days they ran all sorts of tests and he was diagnosed w/FIP.

Dewey is barely hanging on and at this point, I know the outcome. My heart is broken for this little boy and I would rather die than put this little boy down; but I know I would be doing him a disservice by letting him go on and get weaker. I also noticed that he urinates wherever he is when he’s in a deep sleep and I’m not sure if it’s part of the disease or not. This is the saddest time to watch this little boy who is only 6mos old and who will never grow up to be a big boy. But we wanted to give him the best possible life with love and warmth until that final moment. I cannot tell you how many tears I have shed for this little boy. Soon he will be our little furry angel.
