Chaos, the 5-6 week old Kitten, is FIV Positive

by: Lissa on Thu, Sep 20 2007

A policeman found two abandoned kittens near an old house where no one lived for many years. His wife had taken these kittens in and offered them on craigslist for adoption. I was browsing through the list and saw such a cute 8 week old black and white kitten (she posted the two cats seperately). I called her up and met with her immediately. I took the kitten home with me and introduced him to my two dogs and my roommate’s dog. While they were all excited about the new “baby,” they all got along great. I introduced my full grown cat to him as well, but he hissed and I have had them seperated. We took Chaos to the vet last Saturday and he was tested positive for FIV He also had a parasite in his stool, so they are not allowed to share litterboxes and the dogs can’t eat out of the litterbox (the puppy likes to try), SO they are only allowed to play together when the door to the litterbox is closed.
Today I introduced Mr Tinkles (the older cat) to Chaos for a longer period of time and while Mr Tinkles growled and hissed, they eventually started to get along more. They were together for about an hour. The vet also mentioned that Chaos was NOT 8 weeks old, he is 5 to 6 weeks old.
Now just because this poor kitten has FIV I don’t plan on finding a new home for him or letting him go. I plan to help him live a fullfilled life rather it be 10 years OR 5 to 6.
