Tommy

by: Amer on Thu, Jul 05 2007

Tommy was just about months old, black short hair kitten i got from a friend because i had mice problems. He was such an Adorable kitten, loving, and a very good boy. I dont know how he came to have FIV i thought he may have worms or something and too khim to the pdsa, today i got a phone call saying its bad news he has FIV and Leukimia and i couldnt believe it. He was only a little kitten not even a year old and he got something like this. He never even went out and was indoors always. Ever since he got given his first vacinnation he began getting ill, like vomitting when eating and there was no cure but to put him down, i was sure he could of lived at least 2-5 years normally, but the pdsa said he wont make it, how come it says on the websites about FIV and Feline Leukimia that Kittens can survive up to 2-5 years and some kittens tested positive with FIV may have to be Tested again.

Tommy may have gotten FIV or Feline Leukimia though his mother whilst being fed (milk) or from his dad who apparently was a stray. Have any of your kittens suffered this, i didnt think kittens got even get this illness at such a young age. Now his gone, but i can’t stop thinking about him, i brought him home, all his pictures, expressions and habits i can see them in my mind and i can’t stop crying. I wish there was something that could have been done, even if he lived half his life in peace that would have meant something because he was so young, i didnt even get to celebrate his 1st b’day. I had it all planned in my head, that i will do this for him and do that.

I cant imagine getting another pet, the pain of losing them is too much, i had a cat before that when i was a toddler called lucky she lived to her full 18 years, and after that we had gold fish, and a bird they all died is depressing ways. Then all of a sudden i got Tommy, he brought life to our house, he was like a brother, my mum was so attached to him and he was to her, now when i come home he won’t be there waiting near the door, i won’t get to feed him, or play with him anymore. Just in february i got him and now hes gone.

Does anybody know if my tommy could have survived or even made it to a couple of years, the vets said they can’t do nothing and he won’t live even a day without oxygen he has fluid in his lungs. But can’t they make mistakes, i want him back but its impossible.

I hope hes happy where ever he is, we will always love him. REST IN PEACE x

King is my amazing Maine Coon. I just found out today he has FIV and has just a few days to live, if that. I was given the option to euthenize [euthanize] him today, but could not do it. I have brought him home, and hope that he can have a few days in peace before he goes. [more..]
