Hissing at strangers

Recently, for about the past month, my cat has been hissing at men who enter our home. Then when I try to remove him from the situation he hisses at me and then tries to bite me… I’m new to this whole aggression thing since I’ve never whitnessed it before in any pets I’ve ever had. If someone has any pointers can you help me out?
