Born on 12-23-07. And before you ask. Yes she was up to date on shots and never taken out anywhere other then to the vets. On the morning of 4-14-08 i had noticed that she (roxie) wasnt herself. she started to throw up and had some semi loose stool. I was worried and took her to her food and water bowl to see if maybe she wanted water. Thinking that she just ate something bad. But she didnt want to drink or even eat anything at all and looked extremely skinny. So of course i called the vet office and told them. Although i had a appointment for her 3rd shot the next day, they did not want me to wait till then. I took her in and found out she had parvo. I broke down and cried. I could not afford to keep her there so i did at home treatment. She had cerenia tabs for the vomiting. Amoxil, amoxicillin oral for infections and experimental medication called arsenieum. It had 3 little white balls that desolved in water in a syrnge (no needle) that is applied to the gum line. I gave her that stuff that night. And every hour even through the night to give her small amounts of pedialyte. The next day she seemed almost normal. She had not thrown up and her stool looked more solid. The next day after that i boild some chicken for her and fed her small amounts. She started to eat and drink on her own. And i am glad to say that today 4-19-08 she is doing well and is acting as normal as can be. Im not sure how we got so lucky. The vet says its a big deal that we caught it early. Im glad she didnt get bad. So i thought i share my story with everyone in hopes it give you comfort and info that not all dogs gets the super bad effects of parvo. So if you notice anything different about your puppy please just have it seen by the vet asap. Its a matter of life and death. So good luck to everyone who might be going through this. And dont give up. Comments
