Sweet Zoey

I was followed into an Auto Zone store by a little blonde labish puppy. She crouched down by the counter and the store employess stood around not knowing what to do with her except to put her back outside into what was to be the the coldest night of the year. Already having 2 dogs I hesitated but wound up scooping her up and taking her home. She is the sweetest little girl and felt it was meant to be considering it was almost a year to the day that I had had to put down my first blonde labish type dog at the age of 16.

Had her a couple of days then she began throwing up and then not eating or drinking anything. Took her to the vet, she was running a fever and he could not give her shots until her fever was gone but he did give her a shot of pennecillin. Within hours she was drinking, eating and perky. Vet said she was over 6months because her big teeth had come in. 3 days later she started developing sores inside her mouth and gums. This happened within about 12 hours. She was back to no eating or drinking. Back to the vet, she was once again running a temp. and he suggested she might have distemper My other two dogs were given a booster shot just in case. He gave Zoey an antibiotic shot that is supposed to last 2 weeks afterwich time he wanted to see her again. It is 3 days shy of the 2 week mark and she has been doing real well up until a day ago when I noticed her nose was a bit runny and crusty and her gums seem to be redder than my other dogs are. I’m really worried about her possibly having distemper and I’m already so attatched to her, she is so loving and sweet, putting her down just seems like an alternative I simply can’t bring myself to even think about doing. Do these symptoms sound like distemper? I’m really trying to be optimistic. But I’m really scared.
