The life of RYLIE

My story is just like the rest on here. VERY SAD. I got Rylie (a long haired dachshund) from a family member who originally got her from a breeder. She was 8 months old or so when she came to live with us. We brought her to get fixed and that was the beginning of our nightmare. Shortly after she started with a fever of 104 and throwing up bile. The vet put her on antibiotics and something to help her calm her stomach. She was great after for just a week or so, then she started with these seizures. We got her quickly to the vet he the turned us to LSU. The docs there was hoping it would be this liver disfunction that some small dogs get.

We left her there overnight went home and started doing our own research. Long story short we were praying that she was allergic to the antibiotics, because one of the side affects were seizures. My husband and I were determined that was what it was. We woke up really early and headed to Baton Rouge bound and determined that we were right and we would be able to take our ball of sunshine home. But when we got there her last seizure did not subside. It was the most saddest thing I have ever seen, there she was just as scared as we were. Our hands were tyed there was nothing nobody could do, money was no object for us to do what it would take and that wouldnt be a factor because there is nothing to be done about this horrible disease!

Our house is so lonely and sad, knowing there was nothing we could of done is even sadder. Her having to go through this is the most saddest. Giving them there shots is the most important thing to do! Continuing to give them all of there shots is mandatory!!! I wish I would have known not that there was much we would of done differently, my family loves her, she slept nite after nite in between my husband and I. She has been gone 3 days and our hearts have a huge hole in them. We miss her! Her life was so short. How do we cope? How do we help our children to cope? What do i do to get ready for a new puppy? We have so much love to give. She will never be forgotten.
