To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Gaia My fiance and I moved into a new house and decided to get a puppy. We went to our local shelter and adopted a female puppy that we named Gaia. At the time of her adoption, she was listed as being 3 months old. We knew that was wrong, but believed her to be not much younger. She received the distemper vaccination from the shelter before we brought her home. After a few days, we noticed she seemed to have a cold. When we took her for her first vet visit, they assured us it was nothing to worry about and that it was so slim a chance that she could have distemper Eventually she seemed to be getting better, but she began to twitch her front paw after another week or so. The vet still told us she was fine, it was just her recovering. Gaia was the first puppy for both me and my fiance, so we didn’t quite know what to think. She began seeming depressed and then began seizing. We took her to a nearby emergency vet hospital on Thursday February 26, 2009. They gave her a valium and told us it was too late. We had to euthanise her. We were heart broken. We’d barely had Gaia for two months and, thanks to the the lack of concern from the shelter in verifying her age and the lack of care from her vet, we no longer have Gaia in our lives. She touched everyone’s heart who met her and we’ll never forget our beautiful girl. Comments
