Sabrina the Miracle Dog

A very small dog was found wandering in a street in Rosarito, Mexico (Baja). Her eyes were crusted closed; she weighed about 7 lbs. and was in very poor health. Luckily for her the director of the Baja Anim. Sanctuary was driving by that extremely hot day July, 2007. The director, Sunny Benedict, somehow caught her and took her to the sanctuary. She thought she would need to be euthanized due to her poor medical condition.
She had an eye infection, dry crusty nose, appeared blind, would not drink water from a dish, had mange, dry eyes which accounted for the matter in both eyes and had no teeth between her canine teeth, upper/lower. In short, her prospects were not good. Somehow, though, she overcame everything and survived! I adopted her Nov. 14, 2007. She is healthy, happy and well adjusted. Apparently she had distemper as a pup which affected her brain so she does not see things in a normal way. Her opthamologist has assured me that her vision is fine. It takes her longer to manuever but she has learned to adjust to anything in her way.
She has overcome so much which is truly a miracle. (We think she is about 6 yrs. old.) She appears to be healthy..her coat is shiny and full. She is a true walking miracle and gets along well with Sadie, Pepper and Blanca.
