To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Long term effects on my furry family I am looking for help in regards to information on the long term effects of K9 distemper. I have a 1 year old border collie that I adopted from a rescue group that survived distemper before the adoption. My understanding is that he will always carry the virus. Should I vaccinate him yearly for distemper if he’s had it? Do they get ‘flare ups’ of nasal discharge, runny eyes, irritable bowel? If those occur, do I need to be taking him to the veterinarian or will they resolve on their own? He has been behaving irrationally the last couple of days. He’s still eating and drinking well, has energy, but he’s less attentive/obedient, has terrible sticky green nasal discharge that crusts around his nose, and runny eyes. I don’t know if this is expected since he’s had the disease. Can anyone help? Comments
