Coping With Canine Distemper

this story is more about our “sampson ” than it is about “Delilah.
We lost our rotweiler ,”Delilah”three months ago.
Having been so close to her my fiance and i discussed it and reached the agreement of not getting another dog just yet.

When we thought it was time “sampson” came along.
“Sampson” is a full bred pitbull. He is about two months now and weighs 7.5lbs.
A bit skeptical at first as we do have a three and a five year old.”sampson”was not a welcomed addition at first.
He quickly won me over. So jumpy and so energetic.

It wasnt until the first week that the signs came. First it was the gradual lost of appetite.
I mean at one point he didnt eat anything except drink lots of water.
We werent too worried at first. We figured he was in a new environment and was just missing his mama.

Soon the diarrhea came and the vomitting too. a little at first then it was like everyday. In a matter of a day or two he lost a tremendous amount of weight. That did it for me so we took him to a vet.
At the visit we were informed about the virus he has “distemper”. I cant begin to tell you how saddened. Not so much by the news but all the probing and the exams he was getting. a bag full of medicines was given to us and we were sent home.

“sampson” is a fighter. He seems so weak all the time but he looks to be gaining some of his weight back. i cant watch another dog in our family die so i’ve become a fighter too.
