Fin- again

by: Erin on Wed, Sep 05 2007

I posted back in June about my little guy Fin. He was born in the South Los Angeles shelter along w/his 5 brothers and sisters. We rescued the litter at 6 weeks old. They developed distemper shortly afterwards. It’s a very long story that can be read in June’s posts, but the bottom line is Fin is a survivor. He has (and will always have) neurological issues, but is improving by the day. He is going to celebrate his 1st birthday on September 27th, and he’s happier than ever. He eats great, sleeps great, runs like the wind, and loves everyone and everything! He has the distemper “bounce” and very few teeth (the ones he does have are in poor condition) but nevertheless, he is the happiest puppy in the world! He doesn’t let his “issues” slow him down. He is not in pain, and gets around perfectly. We decided to discontinue traditional vet medicine early on, and went with the homeopathic approach. We started him on a distemper remedy from petalive.com, and continued him on Olive Leaf Extract. He gets 16 drops twice a day, and it is actually IMPROVING his condition. He also gets vitamin C powder, and dog vitamins. We had enough of the anti-biotics that I felt were doing more harm than good. Best of luck in battling this HORRIBLE disease!!
