To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Possibly Distemper?? I live on an island away from proper animal helth [health] care. I have two puppies, mixed breed, who both got similar symptoms when they were about 5 months old. Their mother had same symptoms but is doing fine. The male dog was more sick, got probable very high fewer, the skin on his nose peeled away, had a lot of green slimy stuff from his nose, eye infection and was coffin [coughing]. This lasted about five days after which he seemed ok. The female had similar symptoms, don’t know about fewer, though. She recovered quickly and is now very energetic and helthy [healthy] looking. But the poor male.. He started getting epilepsy type of seizures two-three times a day when he was about six months old. It usually happened after running or climbing stairs: he would suddenly get very slow, fall on his side, urinate and cry for 5 seconds and then be fine again. I took him to a vet, the best I could find around here, and got some antibiotics etc. and phenobarbital for epilepsy. He has not got one single seizure since over two weeks now, after I sarted with the medicine, and seemed to be recovering very well at first. But, since four days, I have noticed that he has some problems with balance and /or his back legs. They don’t seem to carry well and he sometimes walks like a drunk. He seems to have problems climbing stairs and his behind collapses sometimes after a quick turn. Otherwise he is very energetic and has good appetite. Is this because of distemper? He does not have vaccination - should I get one or will it be dangerous at this point? Does anybody have any idea what might be going on with him? And what I can do to help him? Comments
