My dog is recovering from Distemper
by: Bani
on Tue, Jul 03 2007
My one and a half year old black labrador - Simba was inflicted by Distemper even after being vaccinated for distemper He would not be diagnosed for nearly 25 days and the disease progressed from mild to critical, while all the wrong treatments were being given to him by various vet doctors. Finally after changing my third vet we came to know it was a critical case of distemper
He was so seriously affected with distemper that he was inflicted with high fever, droopy eyes, dirty discharge from eyes and nose, severe muscle twitching, hardening of nose and feet pads, pneumonia, loss of appetite, loss of recognition, ataxia, seziures. He had big ulcers all over and around his mouth which used to bleed. He was unable to even sit up and needed to be carried everywhere and needed support to even pass his stools.
The doctors had given up on him, but now thanks to the support of my vet and a concoction of homepathy medicines my dog has not only emerged a survivor but is well on his way to recovery. He not only runs around in the park, barks and plays, but has gained complete sense of recognition. His nose and feet pads are back to normal, his diet is back, his eyes and nose have no dirty discharges. All his ulcers have gone. His extreme spasms & seizures have gone and the twitching is reducing by the day. The day when he will be the same playful energetic Simba is just round the corner.

- Alexis, my baby - by Faye - (Sun, Jul 29 2007)
My german shepard, which is not yet a year old has distemper. At first the vets thought it was, then they thought it was an upper respitory [respiratory] infection, now with reading suymtoms [symptoms], it looks like it’s distemper. She has been on medication for a month now. The first week her temp was 107.

- Our little babies - by jenn72 - (Sat, Jul 28 2007)
4 weeks ago we lost our 3 yr old Jack Russell Terrier after complications from a stillbirth. She left 3 baby girls for us to care for. Everything was going good until 5 days ago when we came home and the biggest and most active one was yelping. After really watching her, we noticed she wasn’t able to walk properly and apparently having seizures.

(Note: the “Living with Canine Distemper” Monderator has not been able to determine the safety or effectiveness for dogs of the treatment regimen listed below.)
Amy, you can definitely save your terrior [terrier]. The homeopathic medicines you need to give together as a concoction are
1. Distemperinum C30 or 32 whichever you can get - 7 -8 drops
2. Echinacea purpurea - 7 -8 drops
3. Bryonia C6 - 5-6 drops

We adopted our lab last week and have been told he might have distemper. He wouldn’t eat or drink and was lethargic. The first vet (local to the shelter) told us it was a respiratory infection and gave us an antibiotic. He went a few days and got worse.

- Homeopathic Meds - by Krista - (Mon, Jul 23 2007)
I adopted a Rescue puppy where a litter of 5 was left in a dumpster in Tempe at 1 week of age… At week 6 I believe they contracted Distemper so I have 1 of only 2 survivors who has made it to week 12. He is on all the vet meds but with his 1st puppy shot I have noticed quite a loss in his energy and am quite worried.

- My Gizmo - by Sarah - (Sun, Jul 22 2007)
I begin my story with my new puppy Gizmo! I got him when he was 5 weeks old. He got two shots the day before I purchased him. He was a full-blooded schnauzer.
A week after I got him I took him for his first puppy check-up. I was so excited! I was told that he had a little skin rash and a little case of the worms. This was all supposed to be cureable. Well, I took my puppy home and gave him his medicine and he seemed fine.
