Fin…again! (treatment details)

by: Scott on Thu, Jun 28 2007

In regards to the homeopathic route my wife Erin & I undertook with Finn, he actually started having seizures also. Not wanting them to progress and cause any brain damage, we ordered the Vi-Pro Plus by Native Remedies, (as we already had success with the C-Caps for cancer with our 11+yr. GSP) and had it shipped next-day.

Well Finn’s seizures ended within 24hrs. of using Vi-Pro Plus! However, we then saw his muscle spasms/tics progress from 1 front leg, to both & the head, then to include the back legs also. And that was an extremely difficult time for us all, as he tried to cope with full-body twitches that wouldn’t stop until he was in a deep sleep and cried the saddest puppy cries we’ve ever heard for weeks.

Through that time we “doped” him up with Rescue Remedy and Poppy tincture to help him relax and sleep but eventually decided he just needed to learn to deal with it.

He also has the unenameled teeth and only about 1/2 of them at that, but so far they seem to be staying and he never experienced the hard foot pads or nose. He does have some bone growthplate issue with 1 front leg that we may have to have fixed as it causes his leg to rotate 180′ when he walks. And he has an amazing fur coat now, where at first it was rather bare.

Finn is an amazingly strong survivor and I’m glad we didn’t listen to the vets who were questioning us keeping him alive. And there is no real guarantee of a test to prove that it is distemper until an autopsy is performed.

And as Erin mentioned, at 9 1/2 months old he is doing fine and has learned to deal with his twitching and can run SO FAST, but he is a tiny version of how big he should be at 30lbs. - which is nice for us because we have to carry him often!
