Surviving Possible Distemper

Based only on the clinical prognosis, I would likely have opted to have our sweet 3-month old pup euthanized if I had a diagnosis of distemper Despite having had all of the clinical signs, outstanding vetrinarians persuaded us to try to save her. The poor baby suffered through the kennel cough, pneumonia, gi tract complications, depression, and refused to eat for almost a week. She was given IV fluids and round-the-clock care, and survived and prospered. I know that the survival rate is low, but our pup was only 3-months at infection, and lived to provide great joy to our family. Don’t despair–it is possible to recover.
