calcivirus - 3 cats

by: cat lover on Tue, Apr 01 2008

I had a 3 cat household that all came down with calcivirus. I’m still not sure how they contracted it- maybe from the strays in the neighborhood?
My eldest cat - 15 year old - very thin to begin with, her body couldn’t tolerate the virus and she passed the first day she had symptoms of the virus. The other 2 are still hanging in there. They have the ulcers in their mouth, on their tongues, one of them has them on her nose and paws.

The urgent care bills and vet office visits/injections/medications are currently at $2200.00 and growing. The problem right now isn’t the virus- it’s that they aren’t eating/drinking anything due to the ulcers on their tongue. This morning the vet prescribed pain medication to help with the ulcer uncomfortableness and hopefully, they will be able to eat today.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
