I just brought a new 2 yr old male cat into my existing 2 cat household. I adopted him from a “private” adoption agency (ie. fostering animals in home).Within a week my female 2 yr old, who has never been sick, stopped eating and was extremely lethargic. When I got her to the vet, she had ulcers in her mouth and her nose was raw and bloody. It went from bad to really bad quickly. Now at day 4 with iv antibiotics and fluids, she is still not eating or drinking. My vet wants me to leave her there over the weekend, and by Monday my bill will be at $2,000. Tonight I realized my other cat is coming down with the same symptoms. I’m at a loss as to what to do at this point. The new cat is frisky and looks healthy- no symptoms. What to do?? Can i treat them at home? My vet seems to think they won’t make it if I do this. March 2008
