To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download chronic diarrhea in my 6month old dog I adopted my dog from a rescue when he was about 9wks old. Since then he has has diarrhea. Anywhere from watery to pudding like to the occasional semi-normal stool. I have tried numerous all natural, allergy free dog foods and no luck. He had coccidia and was treated. checked for worms and parasites on multiple occasions. Even treated just in case. My vet has tried Metronidazole, Sulfasalazine. Neither seem to help very much. My dog does fine on a bland diet that I cook. Either chicken and rice or hamburger and rice. But there is not enough nutrients to feed long term. My vet also tested for pancreatic insufficientcy using a blood test. The results of the enzymes were within the normal range but a little on the low side. He gave me an enzyme powder to use anyway to see if it helps. Its been almost 2wks with that and it seems to have maybe helped a tiny bit. My dog seems to be relatively healthy not under weight, playful, eats fine (his favorite thing to do). But when he has to poop its usually bad. Sometimes straining to go, not knowing when he done. Sometimes its like he gets flare-ups where he goes like 6-8 times a day, others where he won’t go for 24hrs. Or maybe once in 24hrs. At this point the vet is talking about a specialist and surgery to explore. Im not sure if I want my puppy cut open. If anyone has any insite please help. Comments
