My Savior

by: LU on Mon, Sep 17 2007

I had recently relocated for the first time, away from all family and friends, due to my husband’s job. My current pet was blind, had CHF, and was no longer a source of protection (my husband travels quite frequently for work).

One day, while out running errands, I came back to my car to find a dog sitting beside my driver’s door. She at first startled me, and I said to her “What are you doing here?” Which prompted her to roll over on her back in a very submissive posture. I told her to go back to her family, got in my car, and started to drive away. I looked back in my rear view mirror to see those big, brown eyes looking pitifully at me. I turned around and opened the door. She immediately jumped into the car and sat down in the back seat, as any other passenger would.

I took her to a vet, had all the shots given to her, an exam, and bath, and proceeded to try to find her owner via an ad in the newspaper, and driving through many neighborhoods in search of a poster….to no avail.

I am thrilled to report that she and I are definite soulmates! She knows my every emotion, at times better than I, and she is my constant companion.

She is ultimately the BEST dog I have ever had, well behaved, well trained and the (4-legged) love of my life.
To anyone out there not wanting to take in a stray, think again…you may benefit muck more than you could ever imagine!

  • An Owners Guilt - by Amanda K - (Fri, Sep 14 2007)
He’s not eating, he’s not drinking, he’s not using the litter box and most of all he’s not responding This is how my 5 year old cat Buster was before I got him to the vet! I have 2 male cats and a 4 year old daughter but in my eyes I have 3 children. My cat has FLUTD also known as Feline Lower Urnary Tract Disease. I first noticed he was urinating frequently then he was straining, and I also noticed a pinkish colour to his urine. He has had it before and it went away quickly so I wasn’t too worried about it… but what was about to happen makes my heart ache and I will feel guilty for the rest of my life! [more..]
  • Itchy puppy - by Alice - (Sun, Sep 09 2007)
We are the owners of a lab puppy who is 10 weeks old. When we bought her from the previous owners she was very itchy and the lady told me she just had fleas. Well 2 days later the poor dog had scratched so much she would not eat or sleep and had infected open sores, so I took her to the vet and discovered she has sarcoptic mange. [more..]
